Communications Strategy to Navigate Uncertain Times

Through a special partnership with the David Brower Center, we're holding a 5-week coaching program specifically for environmental nonprofits to build communications strategies that will help your organization adapt and thrive!

The nonprofit landscape has shifted quickly in the face of the COVID 19 pandemic. Despite the challenges, there are enormous opportunities for nonprofits to shape the world we want to see post-COVID! Now is the time to be bold and take action.

Communications Strategies to Pivot & Thrive in Uncertainty

What is Your "Why"?
During a live, virtual workshop, participants meet the cohort and ground their work by defining their organizational values and Ultimate Outcome.

Who is Your Community?

Post-Cohort

How to Nurture Partnerships & Grow New Ones
Identify audience motivations by creating personas. Ditch the one-size-fits-all approach and develop segmented strategies for each.

What if my organization isn't an environmentally focused organization?
Apply anyway! Rootid holds these cohorts regularly with other types of organizations. You may be a good fit for another cohort.

What types of nonprofits should apply?
This training is designed for organizations that are looking to transform their brand and communications strategy to help scale their mission. The training is designed for small- and medium-sized nonprofits that do not mind rolling up their sleeves and getting dirty in order to grow their impact.

Is there anything organizations need to do before attending?
Nothing is required. However, because this training relies heavily on your understanding of your nonprofit business model, it will be helpful if you have a recent strategic plan or operating plan in place.

What if I apply and pay but cannot attend?
We understand that things pop up. If you apply and pay but cannot attend, we will hold a place for you during our next cohort.

Who from our organization needs to attend?
This training is built to help with professional development of strategy-level staff at your organization. It covers important high-level communications strategy work. We strongly encourage that someone within your organization who has decision-making power over communications strategy attend the event. This could be board members, executive director, communications director or others that make organizational decisions about your communications strategy.

How many people from our team are allowed to attend?
If there is only one person from your team that can attend that is great! Organizations have the most success when 2-3 people attend.

What if we cannot afford the entire cost?
Since we work exclusively with nonprofits, we understand that budgets can be tight. Apply and we will work with you to find a way for you to attend, if you are right for the experience.

What is the time commitment for participants?
At a minimum, you should expect each person to spend 2-3 hours on the weekly learning objectives and 1 hour for our weekly virtual discussions. Many participants wish to devote more time so they can maximize the outcomes of the work.

A Learning Structure That Fits Your Busy Schedule

As a busy non-profit leader, it can be hard to find time in your schedule for professional development work. We understand!

That is why we use a combination of virtual group workshops, peer-to-peer projects and online modules that allow you to learn when you have time.

Learn Virtually With a Cohort of Environmental Leaders

Learn with, and from, peers who have successfully navigated some of the same challenges you are facing. Participate in weekly virtual group coaching sessions and work remotely with peers in "pods" for deep-dive learning. Review your work through one-on-one consultations and then leverage learnings in your day-to-day work.

Partnership for Environmental Impact

The David Brower Center provides a home for the environmental movement by advocating for the beauty, diversity and ecological integrity of Earth. The Brower Center accomplishes this mission through a distinctive combination of permanent infrastructure and ongoing programs in a unique institution that informs, inspires and connects.

In partnership, we co-create necessary spaces for strategic thinking, sustainability & growth—using communications & technology as vehicles for positive social change. We envision a world where those most impacted are prioritized & communications & technology are used to heal & empower rather than divide.

The David Brower Center and Rootid have teamed up to help environmental justice organizations adapt and partner with communities to build a better and brighter post-COVID future.

The Ability to Adapt & Act Requires a Clear Strategy

This crisis has forced organizations to rethink how they frame the relevance and impact of their work—even more daunting, to do it all digitally. We'll cover how to deliver the right message to the right person, at the right time, using the right tools.
