Frequently Asked Questions...

How much does brandUP cost?
Nothing. It's free for all invited organizations!

Who should apply for brandUP?
brandUP is for small- and medium-sized nonprofits that do not mind rolling up their sleeves and getting dirty in order to grow their impact. You should plan to have your Executive Director/CEO and communications leaders attend this event.

What organizations are eligible to apply for brandUP?
Nonprofits must be registered 501(c)(3) organizations. Note that the intensive workshop will be an in-person event, held in San Francisco. Make sure you plan for travel and accommodations accordingly if your team lives outside of the area.

Is there anything organizations need to do before attending?
Yes. Because our workshop relies heavily on your understanding of your nonprofit business model, we ask that nonprofits attend our workshop, or our online webinar, that will help them develop their nonprofit Theory of Change. We will guide you through the process, so don't worry if you haven't done this before.

Who are the volunteers at the event?
Full Circle Fund and rootid will recruit and vet skilled professionals who will donate their time to support your work during brandUP. These volunteers will come from varied backgrounds and they'll support you offering the type of perspective you might receive from one of your Board Members. If you have a Board Member or other volunteer you'd like to join you at the event let us know!

Can all organizations participate in the intensive workshop if they apply?Unfortunately, we can only accommodate 15 nonprofits this year. (If only we had unlimited resources!) This may change in the future, as the event grows and we have more resources.

What happens if an organization is not selected to attend in-person?
This year, organizations not invited to attend the workshop in-person will be invited to participate in an online webinar series that covers the same information covered at the live event. Organizations will receive details following the selection process on how to participate.

Who from our organization needs to attend?
BrandUP covers important high-level communications strategy work. We strongly encourage someone within your organization that has decision making power over communication strategy attend the event. This could be board members, executive director, communications director or others that make organizational decisions about your communications strategy.

Who can invite an organization to apply for brandUP?
Anyone can invite an organization, as long as they have an organization contact (name and email).  Rootid will reach out to that contact to confirm they have the bandwidth and interest to participate in the process.

What if our nonprofit team can't attend both days?
We understand that schedules can be tough! However, due to the high demand for seats at brandUP, we are looking for a full two-day commitment from participating nonprofits. If you have scheduling conflicts, we respectfully ask that you pass this opportunity to a nonprofit that is able to attend the full event. Save the date for brandUP next year! :)

Join the Entire Workshop Series

This year, brandUP is part of a larger capacity building workshop series. Nonprofits are invited to attend them all.

Each workshop is designed to address a key pillar of nonprofit success. All of the workshops are free, hands-on learning experiences where you will work one-on-one with skilled volunteers to develop actionable communications strategies. The series includes:

  1. May 7th, 2019 - Theory of Change Workshop, facilitated Guidelight Strategies
  2. May 31st through June 1st, 2019 - brandUp 2-day Communications Bootcamp, facilitated by Rootid
  3. September 24th, 2019 - Business Model/Sustainability Workshop
  4. November 14th, 2019 - Measurement & Evaluation  Workshop

brandUP is free, and all registered 501(c)(3) organizations are eligible to apply for brandUP!

Organizations will be asked to fill out a short application (3 questions only, we promise!). After nominations have closed, our advisory panel will vet applications and extend 15 invitations. All invited organizations will be expected to participate in a lead-up learning opportunity that helps them create their organization's theory of change.

Organizations not selected to attend the conference will be invited to participate in a webinar series that covers the same material as the live workshop.

Everyone is welcome to invite a nonprofit to apply. Just provide us with a nonprofit contact, and we will reach out.
